ABOUT ME

Growing up, I was always fascinated with stories, whether they came from books, TV, movies, poems, or songs. I wanted to know every detail. Looking back, it all makes sense, storytelling has been ingrained in my bones for as long as I can remember.

When I was fifteen, I spent a summer writing my first book. Was it any good? No. Did I have one heck of a time writing it? Absolutely. Writing quickly became something I not only enjoyed, but something I needed.

It wouldn't be until 2016 that I sat back down at my computer and started drafting a new story — one I was inspired to write while I was on a lunch break. That story would go on to be my first published novel, The Worlds That Separated Us. Back then, it was going by a working title, and I had absolutely no plans to pursue publishing. So it lived in a file on my old laptop for another three years. But every now and then, I'd think about it and wonder if I should go back and work on it some more.

Fast forward to 2020. I had a baby, a two year old, and COVID had just shut everything down. On top of the chaos that was 2020, I was diagnosed with a chronic illness that, without going into too much detail, caused me a whole lot of pain for close to three years. Because of this, I struggled to sleep, and it was then I decided to get the manuscript off my old laptop and take another shot at writing. I carved out time during naps, and at night I'd stay up and write. It was my escape from what was going on inside my body. And through it I began to look forward to night instead of dreading it, and for this reason alone, my first book will always hold a special place in my heart.

And that brings me to today. Writing and publishing is a dream come true. Sharing my stories with others and connecting through the pages of my own words is something that will never not feel incredibly special to me. I hope that if someone is going through something similar, my stories can offer you the same escape they did for me.
